A short summary of why I am running ...
I have served this community for ten years as a hospital chaplain. Why am I running? It is what I see every day at the hospital. It is about all of you: the struggles, the hardships, the hopes, the dreams, the life story that each of us has. It is the stunning dedication to a loved one: a husband and wife, a brother and sister, a mother and daughter, a father and son, and parents now facing limitations in their senior years. It is the unconditional love of family that I have been honored to witness and at times participate in.

I have sat with families who are making the most difficult decision about removing life support. I have met with families regarding their deep concerns about healthcare and the cost of living that never seems to end. The decisions being made now are becoming more common: choosing between medication and food, choosing between feeding the family and gas to get to work.

Why am I a candidate? I cannot stand back and watch what is unfolding in front of me. I feel compelled, as a chaplain, to do whatever I can. That path is in Congress. That is where decisions are made that directly affect all of us, especially the people in District 1.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about what I am going to do, the direction that I am going to take, and, above all, answering the question of "what can be done?" This website is thorough and addresses all of us, no matter our age, our race, our faith, and our culture.

In the hospital, you quickly learn that listening matters. Trust matters. Working together matters. I have seen how decisions made in Washington affect real people families worried about healthcare costs, seniors concerned about Medicare, and workers struggling with the rising cost of living.

I believe government should listen, care, and advocate for families. My goal is simple: protect healthcare, lower costs,and make sure the voices of families in Las Vegas are heard in Washington.

What I Have Seen

I, and all the nurses and doctors are on the front lines. We see the consequences for patients and their families firsthand. We get to know them, their families, their relatives, and their friends.

We do all we can to treat them medically, comfort them at all hours of the day and night, support them, and, most importantly, be there when we are needed the most.

As a chaplain, I am called upon to provide spiritual counseling and prayers in moments of great uncertainty. Prayers for healing, prayers for continued life, prayers to get back to life, back to family. When faith is profoundly requested for a loved one.
